Congratulations to Dr. Binbin Lin on a Successful PhD Defense! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that Binbin Lin has successfully defended their PhD dissertation, "Social Sensing for Public Health: A BESH Framework to Understand and Mitigate Inequalities."


This dissertation made significant contributions to understanding and addressing health inequality through the development and application of the Behavior-Environment-Society-Health (BESH) framework. By leveraging social sensing and advanced analytical methods, Binbin's work provided valuable insights into how human activities and societal factors shape health inequalities. This research enhances our ability to analyze and mitigate disparities in healthcare access and public health outcomes.


Binbin’s academic journey is marked by outstanding contributions, including:

📚 Publications: 24 total, including 12 journal articles (4 as first author), 6 conference proceedings, and 2 book chapters/reports.

🏅 Awards: Recipient of multiple prestigious awards, such as the CaGIS Student Scholarship (2024), 2nd place in GISS-SG Student Honors Paper Competition (2023), Department of Geography Excellence in Research Awards, TAMU (2022), and other honors.
